Summer is winding down...

Fall is on it's way as September of 2013 nears it's end.  Ok, yes it is only the middle of September, but technically we are on the high side of the middle so I consider September almost over.  So there. Nanner Nanner!

With that out of the way, on to the privateer business at hand.  I'd like to report that our Western division has met it's quota of pillaged vessels while doing an exceptional job of exceeding their plundering goals.  Eastern division, are you listening?  The Northern co-op has met expectations once again.  A fine bunch of renegades.  Here in the south, the Procrastinator crew... Well, how can I put this delicately?

It's time for the Texas Renaissance Festival.  Eight weeks of heart pounding; stomach flipping; ear throbbing; Wait, that's not right.  Let me review my notes - Stand By.

Oh yes, eight weekends of merriment and wonder.  But, what really makes the festival is the friends we've made, coming together in a place where we can escape the doldrums of reality for a couple of days and nights.  It's about the smiles of old chums and the winks from a bodice full of... The winks from the well clad wenches.  The courtesy and flutter of a fan from a lady of the court.  These, and mighty fine adult beverage, make faire the one thing that many of us welcome after slaving away at the oars of the "Man".

Come join us for our annual gathering as we celebrate Opening Weekend.  That is, October 11through October 13.  The crew will be gathered in our normal spot, aboard our beloved vessel The Procrastinator.  This is our retreat for the fall where we come together once again as a group and share the company and camaraderie.  All crew members and loyal Stow Aways are encouraged to make the pilgrimage to Plantersville, Tx (Todd Mission, Tx to be exact) and setup camp.  A good time is sure to be had by all, and all are welcome.  We look forward to seeing you there.

We've had two great weekends to get out into the heat of summer and sweat our bal... tails off.  Yes, it is Texas, and yes, it gets pretty danged hot in August and September.  That heat however, did not keep the crew from digging in, literally, and putting forth an exeptional effort to prepare the site for the 2014 season.  Those who braved the heat were tasked with eliminating Mount Procrastination.  For those not familiar with this summit, it is the mountain of dirt we were greeted with upon our arrival in camp after the faire had decided to expand the participants camping area three years ago.  Since that time, we have spent many a sweaty day, rebuilding our parking area to accomodate our members, while our brother and sister clans worked to improve their sites.  It soon appeared as though we were living up to our names as we were bypassed by other's progress.

Done with the ranting, we can now show some progress on our Clan's site.  Not only has three-quarters of the dirt berm been removed, but we now have two planters and some rope to decorate our site.  We have improved the drainage to prevent certain areas from flooding and redirected the natural stream bed to divert water around our tent area.  We have also raised some low areas to prevent flooding during the heavy rains of Spring.

Much has been accomplished and I'd like to thank those who put forth the effort to make our site the best winter refuge for the crew.  Don't forget that there is still a gathering in January of 2014.  Please mark your calendars now.  We could still use a lot of help to put the finishing touches on the site before opening weekend of 2014.

New Site, Web that is

And well over due at that.  A new website is in the works.  Click >HERE< for a glimpse of what we are working on.  There is still a lot of work that must be done before we can go live with the new site.  Much of this site's functionality has not been ported over yet.  The goal will be to have the new site up and running before the New Year.  Wish us luck.

Of note, the current site has been moved to a new host.  Most should find that the site runs much faster now and the functionality, well it actually functions.  Huzzah!  Thanks to Chili Pepper web for hosting our Piratey Home on the Web.

Wrap it up

That does it for this posting.  If you would like more info about the crew you may email us at this robot deterrent styled address of pirates at procrastinatingpirates dot com. Send us a note if you have any questions about the crew or how to join.

Until next time - Smooth sailing,
